Nobody Is Dreaming Of A Skunky Christmas in Oklahoma?

Children in Oklahoma , the benefactors of thousands of toys stored in a outdoor shed may not be getting all the gifts they thought would be under the Christmas tree this year. I was just wondering if you Oklahoma guys maybe able to call and give guidance on deodorizing thousands of gifts with the essence of skunk. Here is the video from ABC27!

An Oklahoma volunteer group said a skunk got into its storage facility and sprayed nearly 800 presents collected for children in low-income families.

Peggy Christian with McClain County Operation Christmas said volunteers have been attempting to salvage as many of the smelly gifts as possible before the planned delivery run Friday, KOCO-TV, Oklahoma City, reported.

ILBERT, SC (WBTV) – A skunk that attacked a York County dog has tested positive for rabies.

Early Monday morning the skunk attacked a small Pomeranian dog named Toby. The dog was on a leash in front of a house in Filbert.

OOLOGAH — A rabies scare in Oologah recently has brought a safety reminder home to at least one family after discovering a skunk killed by the family dogs had rabies. Now one of those dogs is in quarantine by order of the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH).

A sampling of mosquitoes in Tulsa County revealed that West Nile virus is present in the area, prompting health officials to warn the public about the illness.

In a news bulletin issued Thursday morning by the Tulsa City-County Health Department, officials said tests for the virus are positive.

West Nile virus is spread by mosquitoes that feed on infected birds and then transmit the condition by biting humans, horses and some other mammals.

Health officials said detection of the summertime virus underscores the need for people to take precautions while spending time outside. Exposure is most likely between July and October.

Ten cases of West Nile were reported statewide in 2009, including one fatality in Jefferson County. A single non-fatal case was reported in Tulsa County.

The health department controls mosquito counts by spraying more than 800 square miles throughout the county, the release states.

Symptoms of West Nile include a sudden fever, headaches, dizziness and muscle weakness. Some of the neurological affects of the illness may be permanent, officials said.
